Winter Yin & Sound

A Winter Yin & Sound Yoga Experience
With Lis & Deb

Friday 12 June · 6:00pm – 7:30pm · $50

Winter asks nothing of us but to be still. To descend, like water finding its lowest place, and simply rest.

As we move into Winter, nature extends a quiet invitation to slow down, gather your reserves, and turn inward. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Winter is governed by the Water element and the Kidney and Bladder meridians. It is the season of Jing, the deep vital essence stored in the Kidneys, the most fundamental resource we carry. When we honour Winter's rhythm, we protect and replenish this essence, building the resilience and inner stability that will carry us through the year ahead.

This is also the season whose emotion is fear, and whose antidote is wisdom. A Winter Yin practice is an opportunity to move from depletion toward trust, to remember that rest is not withdrawal, but one of the deepest acts of willpower (Zhi) the body knows.

The practice

Lis will guide a slow, grounding Yin practice designed to gently stimulate the Kidney and Bladder meridian pathways. Like the long nights of Winter, these long-held, supported postures create space for things to settle and integrate rather than move and produce. Through mindful breath and sustained stillness, the practice encourages deep release, nourishing the body's reserves, softening the holding that cold weather brings to our connective tissue, and restoring vitality from the inside out.

The sound

Throughout the session, Deb will weave a rich and meditative soundscape using live instruments, vocals, and carefully curated music. Water-element resonant tones carry you inward, meeting you exactly where you are, not to uplift or stimulate, but to accompany your descent into stillness. These vibrations work subtly with the nervous system, dissolving the noise of the day and opening a gateway to deep, replenishing rest.

Gathering at dusk on a Winter evening is itself part of the practice, Yin time meeting Yin season, held in a space designed for exactly this kind of turning inward.

Open to all levels, no prior Yin Yoga experience required. If you've been pushing through, running on empty, or simply feeling the pull to hibernate, this evening is for you.
